Septic Systems/Liquid Waste

Responsibility

Registered Environmental Health Specialists assist in protecting the health and safety of the community by ensuring septic systems health standards are being met.

Functions

  • Educate people to prevent health and safety problems regarding septic systems, and to act as a resource to treat existing health and safety issues.
  • Inspect newly installed septic systems to ensure proper health and safety standards are met.Investigate failing septic systems.
  • Environmental Health Specialist staff assist individuals by discussing what available resources for proposed plans are in the community.
  • Review proposed plans to construct, install or adjust existing septic systems to meet health and safety standards.
  • Initiate and monitor corrective actions to ensure health and safety at regulated facilities.
