vMarriage Licenses

Marriage licenses are issued by the County Clerk in Mariposa County, at 10^th & Bullion Streets, in the Hall of Records.

A public marriage license may be obtained for $60.00 cash, or a confidential marriage license for $65.00 cash. Both types of licenses require that the bride and groom both appear in person at the Mariposa County Clerk’s office
Please bring a form of picture I.D. that also indicates your date of birth (usually a driver’s license or passport) at the time you come in for your license. If either you or your fiancé have been previously married, and the dissolution was finalized within the past 90 days, you must bring a copy of the final dissolution for verification.
The license is valid for 90 days from date of issue. Within 10 days after the ceremony takes place the completed license must be recorded by returning it to the Mariposa County Recorder’s office (if a public license), or to the Mariposa County Clerk’s office (if a confidential license).

Mariposa County Clerk’s office offers the option of a civil wedding ceremony.

This type of ceremony can be performed during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm), and are held on the Mariposa County Courthouse lawn or in the courtyard behind the Mariposa County Government Center.
An appointment for a civil ceremony can be made by contacting the Mariposa County Clerk’s office.
The fee for this service is $30.00. The County Clerk’s office can also provide a witness to the ceremony, if necessary, for a fee of $10.00
