Services for Children

Child Welfare Services

The goal of this program is to prevent, intervene and treat child maltreatment. We provide services to maintain children safely in their own home when possible or work with families toward reunification when children must be removed for their own safety. There is an emphasis on permanency for children rather than leaving them in foster care.  Comprehensive service delivery and counseling by social workers are core elements of the Child Welfare Services program. This is a counseling model program rather than an ‘investigative model’. Law enforcement is an active partner in the program; they investigate allegations of child abuse which givees the social worker an opportunity to work with the children and their families.
