If you are looking for your lost pet, visit our website at least once every day.

To report a lost pet please E-mail a description and photos to aco@mariposacounty.org

When an animal is impounded, it is checked for any form of visible identification, and scanned for a microchip. We make every attempt to trace the ID and notify the owner. EVEN IF YOU HAVE IDENTIFICATION ON YOUR PET OR A MICROCHIP IMPLANTED, DO NOT DEPEND ON RECEIVING A PHONE CALL. Collars and tags fall off and sometimes microchips are unreadable or untraceable.

Animal Control at the Mariposa Sheriff's Department is available 24 hours depending on the need. The normal working hours for the Animal Control Officers are seven days a week, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If you need the assistance of Animal Control, telephone (209) 966-3615.

Animals may be claimed Monday through Friday between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday by appointment. Licensing and rabies inoculation information will be requested at the time a dog is reclaimed.
